Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary is located in North Sikkim and is named after the stunningly beautiful Rhododendron flowers that bloom in this region. The sanctuary covers an area of approximately 43 sq km and is situated at an elevation ranging from 3,048 to 4,267 meters above sea level. The refuge is home to over 40 rhododendron species and other rare and endangered species of plants and animals.
The sanctuary is a popular destination for nature lovers, botanists, and bird watchers as it offers an opportunity to witness the beauty of the Himalayan flora and fauna. Some of the most popular species of Rhododendron found in the sanctuary are Rhododendron niveum, Rhododendron Dalhousie, Rhododendron arboreum, and Rhododendron campanulatum.
