khecheopalri Lake

Khecheopalri Lake, also known as Kha-Chot-Palri, is a sacred lake in the west district of Sikkim, India. It is located at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level and is considered one of the most sacred lakes in Sikkim for Buddhists and Hindus. The lake is surrounded by dense forest and is believed to be blessed by Goddess Tara.

The lake was created by Guru Padmasambhava, who threw a precious gem into the lake to destroy the demon tormenting the local people. Since then, the lake has been considered sacred and believed to have healing powers.

 The lake is also home to several species of birds, including the Himalayan monal pheasant and the black-necked crane. Visitors can take a leisurely walk around the lake and enjoy the serene atmosphere.
