Varadaraja Perumal Temple

Varadarajan Perumal is One of the oldest temples in Pondicherry, a well-known Vaishnavite temple. It is in the South Indian Union Territory of Puducherry, dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. It is located on Mahatma Gandhi Road in the city. In 1748, the temple that housed the Vedapureeswarar Temple's images was deconstructed by the French troops.

The French attack destroyed most temples; the temple was spared. The regions changed hands in the 17th century from the British to the French colonial Empire. Varadarajan Perumal temple has 83 springs, the temple tanks, and 12 bodies of water considered medicinal, and devotees take a dip to cure themselves of common ailments.
