Lakhota Talav
Lakhota Talav, also known as Lakhota Lake, is a manufactured lake in the heart of Jamnagar City in Gujarat. The lake was built in the 19th century and is surrounded by lush green gardens and a palace on an island in the middle of the lake.
The palace on the island is known as Lakhota Fort or Lakhota Palace. It has now been converted into a museum showcasing many artefacts, including sculptures, carvings, inscriptions, and pottery, dating back to the 9th century. It also has a section dedicated to the history of Jamnagar and the nearby regions.
Other nearby attractions include the Bala Hanuman Temple, famous for the continuous chanting of the "Ram Dhun" since 1 August 1964, and the Khijadia Bird Sanctuary, a popular birdwatching destination home to over 220 species of birds. Another popular attraction is the Marine National Park, located on the Gulf of Kutch and known for its coral reefs, marine life, and underwater activities like snorkelling and scuba diving.
